About Me

Welcome. I am Munaeem, a Karachi-based writer, geopolitical commentator, and banking professional with hands-on experience in international financial messaging. My perspective is shaped by life in Pakistan, my connections with Munich, Germany, and a long-standing interest in how politics, economics, technology, and institutions affect ordinary people.

I work in the SWIFT operations side of banking, where I deal with the infrastructure behind cross-border payments. This experience gives me a practical view of the “invisible architecture” of global finance, from ISO 20022 messaging to SWIFT gpi and the changing mechanics of international settlements.

My writing, however, goes beyond geopolitics and finance. I write about travel, especially the practical realities faced by international travellers, including airports, airlines, visas, payments, and life between different countries. I also share personal stories, memories, observations, and views on different subjects that interest me.

Some posts begin with a geopolitical event. Others may begin with something I notice at an airport, a conversation in Karachi, an experience connected with Germany, or a question that stays with me after reading the news.

This site brings those strands together. It is a place where I examine the systems behind events, but also write about the smaller experiences that make those systems personal.
